Cool Solution - Xrdp for UCC terminal servers

From Univention Wiki

Jump to: navigation, search

Introduction

XRDP is a daemon running on a UCC terminal server, which allows users to open a X session on the server using the Remote Desktop Protocol (RDP). This protocol is natively supported by Microsoft Windows and many other operating systems and thus does not require additional software to be installed on the client PCs.

UCC thin clients support RDP sessions using freerdp.

Installation

XRDP is provided in the Cool solutions repository. To install it, type

apt-get install univention-xrdp

Configuration on the terminal server

Allowed users

By default all users of the UNIX group Domain Admins are allowed to connect using RDP. The name of the group can be changed by setting the UCR variable xrdp/access/admins.

Maximum number of concurrent sessions

The maximum number of concurrently running RDP sessions is by default limited to 10 and can be changed using the UCR variable xrdp/sessions/max.

Login window customization

The title and the images used in the login windows can be configured using the UCR variables xrdp/title and xrdp/imagedir.

The directory must contain 4 images using the Windows bitmap format. The first two are used as the rectangular logo at the left side on the input fields, the other two are used for the banner displayed below the input window:

ad256.bmp
