Note: Cool Solutions are articles documenting additional functionality based on Univention products. Packages provided by a Cool Solutions Repository are built by Univention, but will not be maintained. Not all of the shown steps in the article are covered by Univention Support. This article describes how to start a client by Wake on LAN using a computer's hostname.

After including the Cool Solutions Repository, the package univention-wakeonlan must be installed:

univention-install univention-wakeonlan

All needed dependencies are installed automatically.

No further configuration is needed for the script to run. The script looks up the target's MAC address in the LDAP using the hostname and then sends the magic package to the MAC address.

Run the script by calling it with a hostname:

univention-wakeonlan computer1
