This article describes briefly how you can set up autologin to a rdp terminalserver for UCC Thinclients. Prerequesits:

  • UCS DC Master with installed modul UCC
  • A joined rdp terminalserver

Modify UCC image

First off all you need to download two RDP session scripts: RDP-autologin RDP-autologin.desktop Afterwards we will move them in the UCC image. Therefor you need to move the session scripts to the UCS DC Master. Login at the Master and mount the image as in section Modification of existing images described. On the Master move the scripts to the image:

mv RDP-autologin /mnt/img/usr/share/xsessions/
mv RDP-autologin.desktop /mnt/img/usr/share/xsessions/

Unmount the image and create a new MD5 checksum so that the ucc can determine whether the image has been modified.

Set up clients in the Univention Management Console

Login on the Univention Management Console. Create a new policy under "Policies" -> "+Add" -> "Container: ldap_base:/policies/config-registry" -> "Policy type: Policy: Univention Configuration Registry"
For additional information about the configuration of UCC systems and policies see the UCC documentation.
Allocate a name for the policy and add following variables to the policy:

rdp/domainname Domain
lightdm/autologin/session RDP-autologin
lightdm/autologin yes
rdp/server rdp-terminalserver

Thereafter you have to referencing the policy to your desired computer objects. Choose a UCC Thinclient in the Computers modul. If you are in the edit mode go to the TAB "[Policies]" and the section "Policy: Univention Configuration Registry" with the field "Select policy configuration" and choose your previously created policy.
In addition go to the Images TAB and change the Boot variant to "Image boot with update check / Initial installation"
Save changes and reboot the client.
