Migrate to UCS
From Univention Wiki
Depending on your current infrastructure it might be desirable to keep some or all of the current data and permissions. Depending on the system you are coming from there are different approaches. This article's aim is to give you an overview of the different ways.
Migration from Microsoft Active Directory
Active Directory Takeover
If you are planning to completely take over your whole Active Directory Domain, you can use the "Active Directory Takeover" App in the UCS App-Center. This App will help you take over your complete Domain including all your users, groups, computer objects and Group Policy Objects (GPOs).
You can find a howto for this in the UCS Documentation: Migrating an Active Directory domain to UCS using Univention AD Takeover
Active Directory Connection
The Active Directory Connection App from the UCS App-Center can be used, if you don't want to completely take over your Microsoft Active Directory Domain and rather want to run UCS parallel or as a member of your Active Directory Domain. The following chapter of the official UCS Documentation explains how to do this: Active Directory Connection
Migration from a different Samba with LDAP Backend
The migration from Samba 3 to UCS with Samba 3 is described in the following article: Migrate Existing Samba 3 Installations to UCS 4 with Samba 3.
If you are planning to migrate to Samba 4, it is advisable to first migrate to Samba 3 and then follow this guide: Migration from Samba 3 to Samba 4.
